Dyslexia Tutoring
Dyslexia tutoring can help build your child's confidence and abilities in the classroom. Every lesson is focused on a specific skill from their dyslexia report as well as topics that they are studying in school. Lessons are bespoke, multisensory and designed to engage and interest you child.

Dyslexia Assessment
I provide full diagnostic dyslexia assessments for children and young people across Chester‑Le‑Street, Durham, Newcastle and the wider North East. As an APC‑qualified, BDA‑registered and SASC‑registered dyslexia assessor, I follow current SASC guidelines to give a clear understanding of a learner’s strengths and needs. Each private dyslexia assessment includes a detailed, school‑friendly report with practical recommendations for home and school.

Literacy Tutoring
Not all literacy difficulties are linked to dyslexia. I offer literacy assessments and dyslexia screening across Newcastle, Durham and the wider North East to identify your child’s needs and design a targeted programme to support their literacy development.

About Me
I’m Samantha, an APC‑qualified dyslexia and literacy specialist with over 20 years of teaching experience in the UK and UAE. I provide full diagnostic dyslexia assessments in Chester‑Le‑Street, Durham, Newcastle and the wider North East, following current SASC guidelines. I also offer personalised, evidence‑based literacy tutoring to help learners build confidence, strengthen skills and achieve long‑term progress.

Who I Am
Welcome to 10 Dyslexia and Literacy.
I support children and young people in Chester‑Le‑Street, Durham, Newcastle and the wider North East with dyslexia screening, full diagnostic assessments and personalised literacy tutoring. With over twenty years of teaching experience in the UK and UAE, mindfulness and wellbeing training, and a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Dyslexia and Literacy, I provide calm, specialist guidance rooted in current evidence and SASC‑aligned practice.
My approach is strengths‑focused and child‑centred. Together, we build confidence, skills and effective strategies so every learner can reach their full potential.
LATEST INSIGHTS
The British Dyslexia Association has recently released the findings from its 2026 Parent Survey. The results highlight an ongoing gap between the support parents feel is recommended for dyslexic learners and the support that is actually provided in schools. Many families report that their children would benefit from more specialist, bespoke dyslexia and literacy tutoring. The survey also notes that “dyslexia and related needs are not being consistently understood.”
